Shoes To Dye For
S h o e D y i n g . . . " H E L P M E ! "
Getting your shoes dyed can be a traumatic experience but it doesn't have to be.
1 The most difficult step in dying shoes should be finding the shoe dyer. Some stores will only dye shoes that have been purchased there. You may find that your local shoe repair shop offers shoe dyeing.
2 Do not expect your shoes to be dyed overnight. (Your shoe dyer may not even be able to get started on your shoes for a few weeks if he or she is busy.) It may take several days to mix the right color. Often times the color samples must dry overnight. The color may look very different when still wet.
3 Be reasonable. If you expect a shoe dyer to replicate the exact color of your dress, you are going to be disappointed. When comparing the dyed shoes to the dress, do not press the swatch or the dress up against the shoe. That scenario is not going to happen when the shoes are being worn so that is clearly not the way to see if the color matches. If you want a realistic gauge to see if the shoes match, have someone put on the dyed shoes with the dress and walk around while you stand at least 10-15 feet away. (Keep in mind that you are staring intently at these shoes to see if the color is perfect, it is unlikely your wedding guests will have the same keen eye for this detail).
